Vaginal Dryness

May 6, 2019

‘I’m suffering with vaginal dryness, painful intercourse and recurrent urine infections since Menopause. My GP has suggested I use topical estrogen…but the thought of using hormones scares me’

Hormones are an integral part of our biological machinery. A female through the course of her reproductive life relies on these hormones; starting with periods, pregnancy, childbirth and lactation. All of these are heavily dependent on the balance of female hormones.

Estrogen is a key female hormone that is completely depleted at Menopause. This hormone is imperative in maintaining the elasticity and strength of our body tissue. It’s the deficiency of estrogen that causes vaginal dryness, leading to painful sex and urinary symptoms.

Topical estrogens that are body identical and come in various strengths can be used effectively and safely to combat these issues. In prescribed dosage it is highly effective in a local area only and licensed for indefinite use.

Males are programmed differently where the testosterone runs its term well into a man’s seventies! Heterosexual relationships may get out of sync when us women reach Menopause!
